Italian detectorist finds US WWII camp in Italy

Greetings,

I'm an Italian detectorist. A couple of months ago I bought a White's Matrix M6 from an Italian dialer. I started to use it applying what I had seen in your videos available on your site. I started to find some coins and some trash too (pull tabs and so on). I love this machine: always precise regarding pinpoint and lcd screen. Just a week ago I decided to scan a little park close to my home. After a few sweeps I saw a clear signal of a quarter on the lcd. Usually when I find coins the value and the symbols bounce a little due to the difference between american and european coins. But this time the signal and the symbol were fixed and steady. Pinpoint, about 4 inches, dug out...and WOW: a real nice 1932 quarter. I kept on sweeping in the area and after a while BAM! another fix & steady signal: 5C! Dug out and I found 1943 five cent. At the end of the morning the result was:
1932 quarter
another quarter (can't read the year)
1943 five cents
1930 and 1923 dime
a Winchester 45 bullet

I don't know if they have a value or not, but they were IN ITALY!!! I live in Grosseto (about 80 miles south of Florence) and after a search I found that during WWII, the park I visited was an american camp (mess hall, rest room and so on). It's so curious that a machine made in USA, arrived in Italy, could have found another piece of the SA.

I just wanted to share this feeling with you.

Happy hunting
Alessandro

XLT finds circa 1500's spoons in Italy!

Hi White's friends,

About four months ago I was hunting for one hour in a big wood. Until then I hadn't found anything of interest, only trash. Finally, my White's Spectrum XLT made a very good and clear sound near a big chestnut tree.

I began digging with picks but I had trouble due to the big roots. I continued using only a long, strong and narrow dagger. I spent almost 20 minutes but finally, just under 12", I extracted from the roots the first object, my heart was beating fast! Finally, I held in my hands, an old bronze spoon. My efforts were rewarded! I passed the coil again over the hole. Another very good signal! I was surprised and excited. After 10 minutes of hard work, another spoon. Altogether four spoons, two of them in perfect condition. I suppose they're circa 1500. Who buried them and why? A mystery. No other signals around.

I've owned my Spectrum XLT for one year, I'm very satisfied with it. My four friends have the top of other's metal detectors but I think White's is the best for me...By the way, one month ago I bought the underwater White's Beachhunter.

Sincerely, Francis.
